Israel's democracy under stress

Israel bypassed its fourth election in less than two years. In search of political stability, Israel continues facing a crisis in finding a leader who can form a coalition government. It is only the Likud party that has 30 seats out of 120 seats. The rest 13 parties hold only a single-digit seat. Likud party, the party's leader Netanyahu lost his magic wand to make a stable government.

The Likud party could have been in a better position if its coalition with other smaller parties. A single-party majority is a mirage in Israel. Yet, Netanyahu doesn't accept any form of alliance with other parties with similar ideologies. Also, parties led by other majorities such as Yair Lapid, Benny Gantz, or Gideon Sa'ar opposed him because he is the first Israeli Prime Minister on trial for three criminal charges. There is a week spot in the constituency the Prime Minister does not have to resign when charged in court. But any other officials like President has to step down. The loophole in the constituency gave Netanyahu a long stand in the democracy. Once, it was Mr. Netanyahu who could form a strong government, but now he has become the dividing gesture in Israel politics. The past four elections have thrown Israel have been cornered with a new set of electoral politics. Frequent election, a phenomenon that exposed Israel's internal weakness. Societal cleavage and cultural divisions have resulted in offensive politics. A destructive war with Hezbollah and Iran's nuclear section are the major two threats to Israel's national security. The other major threat is the internal disintegration of Israel's society, leading to the loss of its social cohesion.

Israel has certainly been the most functioned democracy in the region throughout its history. but now, it failed to form a stable government.

The following are some of the reasons for its failure in democracy.

  1. The major could be the poor government functioning, political culture, and in particular civil liberties.
  2. Israel also maintains a military occupation on which millions of people live while denying those people the right to vote.
  3. It also encourages populism.
  4. The internal disintegration of Israel's society leading to the loss of its social cohesion and its identity as a Jewish and democratic state.
  5. The failure in democracy is strongly proved as the Israeli voters have no direct access to Knesset members.
  6. The voter participation declined when the economy liberalized and the private sector expanded tremendously.
  7. Since 2019 neither Benjamin Netanyahu nor his opponents have been able to win enough seats in parliament to form a coalition government with a state majority.

The internal dispute in Israel is a wake-up call for Indian democracy. Few Indians look up to Israel's military model, how they carry out surgical strikes, national security? But that model won't serve India in the long run as India has social cohesion and common values.

french colonies present day

France borders eight countries. But actually, it borders more than eight countries. And in fact, its longest border isn't even the one with Belgium or the one with Spain. It is the one with Brazil. What is going on here? We know only one version of France that is the l'hexagon. It is also called the La France Metropole. It is the mainland of France. It is the France you probably think of when you think of France in Europe. But there is another France, it is called France d'outre-mer, or the Overseas France. Overseas French accounts for almost 20% of all French land. And a whopping 97% of its ocean territory, nearly 3 million French citizens live here. The Overseas France is peculiar. France d’outre-mer includes far-flung tropical islands, remote archipelagos with penguins, and weird-looking, uninhabited atolls around the world. There is lobster fishing, scientific research, nuclear weapons testing, and military exercises. And the mind-blowing fact is that Overseas France is...

BUTTERFLY EFFECT- HOW SMALL CHANGES DRIVES US TO AN IMMENSE CHANGE?

Have you heard of a term called the butterfly effect? Whenever you solve a math problem, a minor change in substitution might result in a greater error. The same happens in the big picture. It is believed that when a butterfly flutters its wing in Australia, It might create a hurricane in Texas. This beautiful term "Butterfly Effect" was coined by Edward Lorenz. But what if I say that if there isn't the occurrence of WW1, India still would under the British Raj. Which means we might not even be born. Likewise, relate each story which I am going to demonstrate below. From world war 1, to the creation of anime, every single change in our lives in some way is the other related to our huge success.  MISINTERPRETATION OF ROUTE LED TO WW1  The great leader from Austria(Archduke Ferdinand carl Ludwig joseph maria) was transiting in a car with his wife, in front of which there were four cars, furious Hungarians came to attack those cars. But they didn't know Ferdinand is in o...

Principles of Shivaji Maharaj

In this blog post, we will focus on the principles that made Shivaji Maharaj an inevitable, gracious, valorous emperor of Maratha. Shivaji is famous for his prowess in warfare techniques and Arthashastra. There are many articles in the pool that tell us about his biography, leadership qualities. But not the principles he followed. Which made me write about such a prominent ruler. As we know, Shivaji's father, Shahaji Bhosle, used to spend most of his time in the tristate as a general. So, Shivaji spent his childhood with his mom and Dadoji Konddeo. They taught Shivaji moral values and martial arts. With no further delay with the history you previously acknowledged. Let's drift through the principles. Mentality Mighty Maratha Shivaji the great was just a teenager when he started swaraj yatra. Shivaji was always an outdoorsman. During his excursion through the countryside, he saw many skilled men who worked for the sultanate. Shivaji advanced towards them. With curiosity, S...
